Recycling services in Holden Hill & Modbury North

At Hampshire Recycling, we offer a range of recycling services. Not only do we help you gain a little extra cash, but it aids the environment too!

    Container deposit refund

The South Australian Government introduced Container Deposit Legislation (CDL). What this means is that certain drinks are sold with a 10c deposit already included. When you have finished your drink, save the empty containers and bring them to our team at Hampshire Recycling. We will refund our customers across Holden Hill and Modbury North 10c on every compliant container.

To be included in the scheme, containers must be bought in South Australia and be marked with one of these messages:

    • 10c refund at collection depots when sold in SA
    • 10c refund at SA/NT collection depots in State/Territory of purchase

    This includes containers for

    • Carbonated soft drinks
    • Non-carbonated soft drinks
    • Water (plain, still or carbonated)
    • Fruit drinks and some juices
    • Sports drinks
    • Ice teas
    • Flavoured milk up to and including 600 mL
    • Yakult bottles
    • Beers, ales and stout
    • Non-alcoholic wine
    • Pre mixed spirit drinks

Just remove the lids, make sure they are empty and start counting your cash!

    Plastic bottle recycling

At Hampshire Recycling, we take the three main types of plastic bottle, which are clearly marked on the individual container.

    • Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET)
PET plastics are commonly used to make soft drink and water bottles. Polyethylene terephthalate plastic is clear and melts at 80° Celsius.

    • High Density Polyethylene (HDPE)
HDPE plastic used to make juice and milk bottles, on the other hand, is opaque with a waxy surface; often coloured and melts at 75° Celsius.

    Glass bottle recycling

Glass bottles are commonly found in three colours: clear, brown and green. All impurities must be removed before recycling as even small amounts can cause the glass to be rejected from the recycling process. Recycling glass saves on raw materials plus the energy needed to initially melt these raw materials down.

If your glass bottle does not qualify for the CDL refund, we may still be able to pay you a small refund.

We do not accept certain glass products:

    • Light globes
    • Oven-proof glass
    • Mirrors
    • Drinking glasses
    • Window and windscreen glass

    Can recycling

Make some extra money by recycling your empty cans! Not only that, but you will be helping the environment by reducing litter at public places, and helping to cut back on the greenhouse gases that are created when cans are made from scratch.

    Carton recycling

Bringing your used cartons to Hampshire Recycling, either at Holden Hill or Modbury North, and we will give you cash back.

    Cartons we accept include:

    • Liquid paperboard cartons (LPB)
    • Fruit juice cartons
    • Milk cartons
